St. Mary's Cemetery

St. Mary’s Cemetery is located in the 2400 block of West Mount Vernon and was established in 1895. Many members of our faith community have been laid to rest at St. Mary’s.

Who administers the Catholic Cemeteries?

It is maintained by the six Catholic parishes of Springfield: St. Agnes Cathedral, Sacred Heart, St. Joseph, Holy Trinity, Immaculate Conception and St. Elizabeth Ann Seton parishes. Ultimate responsibility rests with the pastors. The cemeteries are administered by a Cemetery Board composed of lay representatives from the six parishes. The Board makes the policies, establishes priorities, and authorizes expenditures. Income is generated from the Perpetual Care Trust Fund. The Trust is increased by donations, bequests, and by reserving twenty percent of the cost of each burial plot.

Cost of a plot for Resurrection Cemetery is $500.00.

Paul Wunderlich, the Director of the Catholic Cemeteries, handles all inquires and questions. He may be contacted at 417-866-6720 or 417-862-4433.
